The Teachings of Don Juan a Yaqui way of Knowledge by Carlos Castaneda

Last chapter Don Juan Actually named the drug he was taking for the first time.  In a ritualistic manor the two men ingested peyote cacti and experience a strange and lucid trip.  they discuss actually meeting “mescalito” and discribe the entire trip as well as him in vivid detail.  I found it very interesting because it dances the border between fiction and non-fiction.  on one hand they may have never tripped mescaline, but on the other hand who is to say that if they did trip, that they did not experience the trip they describe.  Drug induced or not if it happened and was real to them then it is non-fiction.  The drug is real and the experience may have been real too.  It was a good read because I finally knew a drug they were taking and could take the knowledge i possess of peyote and relate it (not from personal experience) to the trip that these two took.
